Lanzarote Hotels

Home to some of the best beaches this side of the Atlantic, the Canary Island of Lanzarote is a great choice for those looking to enjoy a laid-back beach break in the sun. Offering an amazing choice of hotels and plenty to see and do, this island paradise could, and should, be next on your holiday bucket list.

With its spectacular sandy beaches and year-round warm weather, Lanzarote in the Canary Islands is the ideal holiday destination for anyone after a relaxing beach break. Add in a fantastic food scene, locally-produced wines, top cultural hotspots and an exciting nightlife, and this truly is somewhere that should be on your must-visit list.

Beaches
Home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, Lanzarote is a sun-seeker’s paradise. Mesmeric crystal-clear waters meet sensational stretches of white, golden and black sand, offering holiday-makers a rich variety of options when choosing where to pitch their parasols. Avoid the crowds by heading to Papagayo, Puerto Del Carmen or Matagorda on the southern side of the island to explore some of the best beaches and coves. Or for a livelier atmosphere, Playa Blanca and Playa Grande Beach are both great for families, with an extensive selection of restaurants, cafes and bars as well as water sports for everyone to enjoy.

Culture
February and March is Carnival Season in Lanzarote, with huge crowds gathering in Arrecife to enjoy parties, street musicians, workshops and, of course, a fabulous parade. Lovers of the great outdoors may enjoy exploring Timanfaya National Park, with its sweeping volcanic scenery – the result of eruptions from almost 300 years ago – covering a quarter of the entire island. Or for a truly memorable experience, don your diving gear and visit the Museo Atlantico, a remarkable underwater collection of submerged statues and aquatic art, 12m below the waves just off the coast of Punta del Aguila. For the perfect blend of old and new, visit Castillo de San Jose, an old fort built in 1774 on the orders of King Don III. Despite its historic roots, the spectacular building has since been transformed into the International Contemporary Art Museum, housing some of the most important modern art in all of the Canary Islands.

Food & Drink
Lanzarote boasts an exciting foodie scene, with a unique blend of traditional cuisine and innovative gastronomic creations ensuring there’s something for all palates. Given that it’s an island, seafood is the speciality, and an outstanding array of fish and shellfish can be found on offer in high-end restaurants and budget cafes alike. Meat-lovers can rejoice, however, as beef, goat and black canary pork – a local delicacy – can be found on most menus. Although the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote is mostly dry and bare, the soil underfoot provides an ideal balance of fertile earth and nutrients to grow grapes. Wine-lovers should head to the La Geria region to sample artisan wines and lovingly-made vintages nestled among the rocky outcrops and volcanic slopes of the island.

Nightlife
When the sun goes down, many of the major tourist areas of Lanzarote really start to come to life. Puerto del Carmen, with its eclectic collection of clubs, bars and discotheques is a must-visit for anyone who wants to dance the night away. Beachfront restaurants remain open late serving food and drinks at reasonable prices. 24-hour bus services run between Arrecife and Puerto Del Carmen to make sure everyone gets back to their beds safe and sound.
