Crete Hotels

Crete Hotels

The largest of the Greek Islands, Crete is renowned for its seamless blend of pristine beaches, ancient ruins, rugged mountain landscape and one-of-a-kind gastronomy.

Feeling more like its own small country than an island, Corfu is large in personality and area. With a huge choice of resorts to choose from, and with hotels offering everything from scuba diving to poolside massage, there’s something on Crete for every holidaymaker, whether they be big, small, or something in-between.

Beaches

With over 1000km of coastline you will never be short of finding your perfect Cretan beach. Long stretches of golden sands are broken up by olive groves; and secluded bays with crystal-clear waters are easy to find. For a unique Cretan experience be sure to visit Vai – Europe’s only palm forest beach or take a stroll along the pink sands of Elafonisi Beach.

Culture

With ancient ruins a plenty, museums by the bucket load and even the birthplace of a Greek god, Crete is a cultural haven and a truly spectacular place to discover. Wander the various ruins or visit an archaeological museum to see how life once was here. Greek mythology fans can also visit Lassithi Plateau, believed to be the birthplace of Zeus!

Food & Drink

Cretan food perfectly combines island cuisine with Greek tradition. Expect a lot of fresh fish and seafood on the menu with plenty of olives, tomatoes and, of course, feta cheese. Smaller dishes known as meze are often very popular and include a variety of options such as dolmades – stuffed vine leaves, tzatziki and loukanika – Greek sausages. Traditional Greek dishes such as moussaka are also commonplace here.

Nightlife

Cretan nightlife is vastly diverse and suited to all tastes. Malia is the island’s clubbing capital with an infamous strip of late night bars and clubs hosting top DJ’s that are open until dawn. Agios Nikalos and Hersonissos are also lively resorts with a great nightlife. Elsewhere expect a more laid-back vibe with bustling bars and late night tavernas.
