Beaches

Food & Drink
Expect traditional Greek cuisine on the island of Skiathos, fresh Greek salads with bread drizzle in olive oil, tzatziki and moussaka. If you’re looking for a quick bite with maximum taste, the Greek gyros are grilled meat kebabs served in a pitta with tomato, onion, tzatziki and a handful of French fries in. Seafood lovers will be delighted with the tavernas and restaurants, mainly located by the sea or harbour, serving delicious dishes made with freshly caught fish. Typical Greek alcoholic drinks include Ouzo, a strong aniseed tasting spirit typically offered at the end of meals, and of course wine with the amount of vineyards on the islands.

Culture
An island oozing with culture, you can experience Skiathos’ history at ease with a vast amount of historic sites and cultural landmarks dotted throughout the island. From the Evangelistria Monastery to the house of Alexandros Papadiamantis, the ancient architecture of the island is something to boast about. So, it’s not surprising that its stunning landscape was used as a setting for the hit film Mamma Mia!

Nightlife
As a summer holiday location, beach bars are dotted around the coast – perfect for evening drinks by the sea. If you want a little more oomph in your nightlife, then Skiathos Town is the place to be. Danny and Zoe’s Blind Dog bar hosts live music to dance the night away to. If you’re more into rock music, Rock and Roll bar is a popular venue for drinks and parties through the night. For a more relaxing evening out, the Attikon outdoor cinema is a wonderful open air film experience in a rustic setting.
